MoreCycle

Currently 75% of all the waste in the US can be recycled, but we consistently choose to recycle 30% of it.

Mission

Way too much waste ends up in the trash can when it could have been recycled. Our app aims to solve this problem by using machine learning to detect whether recyclable and non-recyclable items, so more items can be recycled. Presenting MoreCycle!

Save Resources

Most materials today were designed to have more than one life, but they sit in the trash can forever.

Reduce Water Pollution

Most of the items that aren't recycled easily can end up in the ocean, hurting our planet's biodiversity.

Avoid Landfills

Less items go to the trash, so less items in the landfill.

Raise Awareness

A lot of the reason why we're in this situation is because of the lack of awareness about recycling.

Demo

Here, we show a demo of our app to classify waste with our AI model. We achieve extremely high accuracies with our trained machine learning model.

About us

We here at MoreCycle are a group of students at Lynbrook High School who are passionate about solving real-world problems. Our goal with the MoreCycle app is to use our machine learning and computer science skills to solve a growing problem. With our app, we hope to bring awareness to proper waste management, and the consequences that come.
